HÀ NỘI — Việt Nam plans to host the Asian Football Confederation U23 Championship in 2020.

Việt Nam will have to vie for the right to host against Thailand and Australia, who have also expressed interest in hosting the tournament.

In the past, Việt Nam have organised various international tournaments for the youth. Their success and wonderful supporters in last month’s U23 championship are two of their advantages.

The hosts of the 2020 event, which is considered a qualification for the Tokyo Olympics in the same year, will get an automatic berth in the final round.

At the Olympics, apart from hosts Japan, three slots will be available for Asian countries to make it to the U23 championship’s top three. — VNS
