The programme, organized by Ho Chi Minh Communist Youth Union in the city, has helped bring Tet closers to poor students.

Tuyet Trinh is a student from Ho Chi Minh City University of Medicine and Pharmacy. Trinh comes from the central province of Phu Yen, one of the hardest hit localities by last year’s floods. She’s among 3,000 students who received free bus tickets to return to her hometown for Tet.

Huynh Thi Tuyet Trinh who is a student from  Ho Chi Minh City University of Medicine and Pharmacy said "I’m very happy, I can reunite my family during Tet holiday, and it helps me to have more motivation to try better in my studying in the year ahead."

The “spring buses” have begun their journey from the city to central provinces such as Quang Nam, Quang Ngai, Binh Dinh, Phu Yen and Khanh Hoa, among others.

Le Ba Minh from Ho Chi Minh City University of Technology shared "My family is near the poverty line and was affected by recent floods. This ticket not only helps me return home for Tet, but is also great encouragement for disadvantaged students like me."

Besides 3,000 tickets, the programme also presented 2,000 gifts to other underprivileged students who will stay in the city to look for part-time jobs during Tet holiday to pay for their tuition.

On this occasion, the Ho Chi Minh Communist Youth Union in Ho Chi Minh City will provide 8,000 part-time jobs for these youngsters.

Tet is a big holiday for family reunions. The “spring buses” have helped bring a cosy spring, and Tet atmosphere to the poor students, helping them have a meaningful Tet and a joyful year ahead.-
