Phạm Hưng, former Chief Judge of the Supreme People’s Court and a National Assembly deputy for many terms, passed away on February 4 at the age of 91.

HÀ NỘI Phạm Hưng, former Chief Judge of the Supreme People’s Court and a National Assembly deputy for many terms, passed away on February 4 at the age of 91.

Hưng was born in 1927 in Cương Chính Commune, Tiên Lữ District in the northern province of Hưng Yên.

He joined the revolution in August 1945 and became a member of the Communist Party of Việt Nam in May 1946.

He served as a member of the Party Central Committee in the fifth, sixth and seventh tenures and as Chief Judge of the Supreme People’s Court from July 1981 to June 1998. He was a National Assembly deputy of the seventh, eighth and ninth tenures.

In recognition of his contributions to the nation and the revolutionary cause, a State-level funeral will be held for Hưng on February 10. He will be buried at the cemetery in his home village. VNS
