HCMC - The Shidler College of Business at the University of Hawaii held a commencement ceremony in HCMC on July 8 for 19 students who had completed the Vietnam Executive Master of Business Administration (VEMBA) program.

This was the 10th such program held in the city and the 21st in the country. On July 7, a similar ceremony was held at the Melia Hanoi Hotel for 15 graduating Executive MBA students in Hanoi.

The ceremony in HCMC was attended by Dean of the Shidler College of Business Vance Roley, vice president of the HCMC International University Ho Nhut Quang, U.S. Consulate General in HCMC officer Kenneth Tarpley, and guests, alumni and families.

Vance Roley said, “As Vietnam emerges fully onto the world economic stage, new and constantly-evolving demands are placed on business executives in all industries. To successfully manage these challenges, today’s executives must possess strong analytical skills, the ability to think strategically, and effective leadership capabilities.”

“To meet these challenges head on, the University of Hawaii, Shidler College of Business has partnered with the Foreign Trade University to deliver its first-rate Executive MBA program that will train, guide, and prepare Vietnam’s top executives who want to elevate their management skills.”

This is Vietnam’s only MBA program fully accredited by the Association to Advance Collegiate School of Business (AACSB) International, the most prestigious and demanding accrediting institution for elite business schools worldwide.

The program was conducted entirely by the University of Hawaii’s PhD-level professors who fly directly from Hawaii to deliver their first-hand knowledge and real-world experience to the students.

In order to be accepted to the program, candidates are required to possess a bachelor degree, at least five years of work experience and a high level of English proficiency.

The program has already proven to be immensely successful in advancing many graduates’ careers for the last 16 years in the country. With more than 600 alumni holding key business positions in all economic sectors in Vietnam and worldwide, MBA for Executives in Vietnam offers one of the most valuable business networks.

“The University of Hawaii MBA has given me a very different perspective on business and management. The program is very Asia-focused and continuously ranked among the top EMBA programs in the Asia-Pacific region,” said Pham Long Tran, CEO of Vietnam Posts and Telecommunications (VNPT).
